December 2017: Aarsleff Ground Engineering and Northern Piling have formed an alliance to serve better the needs and requirements of their clients in the Scotland construction market. Recognised as total country ground experts, both companies are well-established ground engineering contractors specialising in the installation of piling, foundations, geotechnical solutions and retaining structures.
Aarsleff Ground Engineering and Northern Piling are already key participants in the ground engineering industry for their engineering expertise and track record, enjoying more than a combined 60 years’ experience in laying the foundations for a variety of projects across the Residential, Rail, Commercial, Infrastructure, Energy and Building construction sectors. Their new alliance builds on a long-established relationship between the two companies, who have already worked on several shared projects.
Practically, the alliance means that Northern Piling will remain piling within Scotland, with Aarsleff Ground Engineering providing the geotechnical services and/or retaining structures, to complete the foundation package offering. The companies have also entered into an agreement that they will offer their joint service for ground beam & foundation solutions in Scotland only.

Cameron Burns, Operations Director at Northern Piling said: “Our collaboration with Aarsleff is successful because we both have highly experienced teams with a complete focus on project delivery. Through this alliance, Northern Piling are now able provide a tailored, technically excellent service that best suits our client’s needs, whether it's providing a driven precast piling and precast ground beam package for a residential development, driving large diameter steel tubes for a new port, installing soil nails for a small slope stabilisation scheme, or internally too, by investing in our staff’s training and development”. The new alliance will enable both Aarsleff Ground Engineering and Northern Piling to expand in a highly promising market and offer a full range of ground engineering services, from small local projects to major national work, and everything in between.

Expansion of our business throughout 2011 allowed us to add a mid range driven piling rig to our fleet.  This rig is ideal for economic piling platforms, lightweight and suitable for housing and light commercial developments.

January 2012 saw the start of our most exciting year so far.  We continue to offer fast efficient service with professional controls on noise and vibration in suburban residential areas.  We added a further piling rig to our fleet and invested in support vehicles to maintain the highest levels of site performance possible with this technique.

June 2012, Cameron Burns formerly of Stent Piling joined us as Director and introduced high level operational safety and professional site control.  Top drive driven piling can be installed close to buildings in urban developments with correct machine knowledge and site controls.

December 2012, Northern Piling have expanded exponentially through 2012 and have now completed projects in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow and into Cumbria.  Our projects include schools, residential flats, marina developments, factory extensions and warehouses.  We have strategic partnerships in the north of England and look to venture into our old hunting ground of Tyneside where we have extensive experience of ground conditions in Newcastle and the surrounding area.  We now operate projects from £10K to £750K in value and we have set up joint venture agreements to look at larger projects.

January 2013, off to a flying start, we are very likely to appear on a construction site near you very soon.  Please look out for our vehicles and rigs throughout the country and feel free to phone for advice on any aspect of piling.  We can offer advice outside of our core business of driven piling by calling on our partner companies to assist.  We aim to offer the best advice and most efficient piling service available as well as offering attractive and competitive pricing.
